Provincial Programs: Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island (PEI) is Canada's smallest province, consisting of an island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The province has the fewest number of people, with approximately 140,000 residents on the island. It is a very popular tourist destination, and therefore, the population rises substantially in the summer.
PEI is famous for its agricultural red soil, which grows some of the finest potatoes in the world. Despite its small size, it is Canada's largest potato producer. PEI's other industries include fisheries and some services.
PEI has often used immigration as a tool to attract investment, and there provincial nominee program was largely based on this. New Federal regulations have seen the demise of this program, and PEI is the process of developing alternative programs...
